Whew!

Ok, so this one isn't entirely baby-related, but oh well. It is called the HESTON chronicles, right?

Jon, Taylor, and I just returned (well, on Friday about 11pm) from an 8-day trip to Florida to visit Disneyworld. It was a surprise trip for Taylor, and she HAD. A. BLAST. We had her stumped until we got to the hotel about where we were going. She thought she had figured it out by seeing that we were going to Orlando. But, technically, Disneyworld is in Kissimmee. So I played the zip code technicality as much as a I could. When we finally told her what was going on, she kept saying, "You guys are SO mean! Sooo mean!" All in good fun, of course. Everything was, and I quote, "AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!" and she just couldn't get enough fun. I believe she was on sensory overload. Her favorite rides were all the ones I wasn't able to go on--GM Test Track, Splash Mountain, Mission: Space, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Twilight Zone's Tower of Terror. There was one ride she liked that I could go on: Spaceship Earth. That's the Very Slow Ride that takes you up through the giant ball at Epcot.

There are a million more things I could say about Taylor's excitement and memories in Florida, but my battery would die before I was finished; and, to be honest, I'm just too dang lazy right now to go to the other end of the house and plug the thing in. So, I'll be posting pictures soon--as soon as I get them transferred to this computer.

Other than loving to see how happy and excited Taylor was, I got to have my own experiences there. Since I couldn't go on a vast majority of the rides, I got to people-watch. I even got a picture of that, soon to come. I really do love people-watching, especially somewhere that's a huge melting pot such as Disneyworld. There were soooo many different languages being spoken; it was incredible. I still could listen to someone from the UK talk all day long and not get tired of it. I just love their accent and the words they use in comparison to the words we use here in the US. I heard both "loo" and "toilet" when one referred to needing to use the restroom. And quite a few "oh buggers" when someone was upset about something. How fun!

Oh, and I mustn't forget our dear Tropical Storm Fay. That darling little storm hit us in the Orlando area and dumped buckets of rain. Now, since we live in Washington, the rain itself wasn't a huge deal. But add to it 40+ MPH winds and temperatures around 80 degrees, and it became...how shall I put it...miserable. Well, at least I was miserable. We all got soaked, it was like a frickin sauna inside our ponchos, and it made going into the air-conditioned rides feel like we were being flash frozen. It was ridiculous! I think Orland ended up with about 18 inches.

We wanted to take Taylor to Cocoa Beach to let her see the (I say this with affection and respect, of course) lame-ness that is the shoreline and waves of the East Coast. But Cocoa Beach ended up with major storm erosion and a final 33 inches of rain. So there wasn't really a Cocoa Beach to see, per se.

Well, I suppose I'm done for now. We're back at home, I'm in week 13 of my pregnancy (see, baby stuff!) and officially out of Trimester #1--which has really been a breeze, what a blessing--and back to the normal schedule. Although jet-lag really gets me for the first few days.

More to come, including PICTURES! Stay tuned...
