I've decided NOT to post pictures of the pregnant me just yet. I'm having my best friend take some professional quality pictures of me soon, and that's what I'll post. They'll be far better than what I can take here at home--plus, she has the ability to airbrush! My skin will never look better after she fiddles with her stuff!
I had another OB appointment Thursday morning. This one was nothing special, but I was relieved to hear that they didn't have to do the Amniocentesis test on me. That's the one where they do a long needle to extract fluid around the baby for testing. All I had to do was give a small sample of blood from my arm. Much easier! They call the test a Quad Screen--it'll test for genetic birth defects such as Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18 (I think that's what it's called), spina bifida, and hemophilia. None of them run on either side of the family that I know of, so it should all be fine.
My body is still in decent shape, other than getting more round. The only thing I'm really noticing is that the skin around my belly button is getting tighter. Good thing I don't have a belly ring...that would be nasty! Also, my fingers are getting fatter. My wedding ring is starting to leave a mark, and I'm almost to the point I can't wear it because I can't get it on and off! But if that's all I have to complain about right now, I'd have to say I'm pretty blessed. :-)
I have set my ultrasound appointment for October 8! So that's when we'll get to see if we need to buy blue or purple! The doctor, at that time, will also check out the baby's organs and other systems to make sure everything is developing properly. I'm so excited--I'm dying having to wait to see what we're having. I want to paint the baby's room, and Jon wants me to wait...but I think I'm going to keep the yellow and sage theme I like, no matter what we're having.
I have set a baby shower date for January 18, 2009. My best friend is so awesome--she's reserved the room, has a ton of ideas on how to make this a wonderful shower, and is going to hand-make the invitations. Her grandma might be also doing a diaper cake for us!!!

Delaney, you are so great at expressing your self thru writing. I am enjoying keeping up to date on your progress with your pregnancy. The colors yellow and sage sound great and you can always add a little pink or blue as accents if you want after you find out. God Bless, Love Lynn
