So, as many of you already know, we're having a boy! My ultrasound was on Friday, October 10--what a fascinating experience. It made it so much more real to me--as if my expanding waist line, my growing inability to see below my belly button, and all of my necessary maternity clothes weren't enough! We went to Providence Hospital, and they wanted me to have a full bladder, of course. Well, I needed to pee when we left the house. The hospital is about an hour south, in Portland. I have a baby pushing on my bladder. I HAD TO PEE WHEN WE GOT THERE! The technicians took the necessary pictures, and finally let me go. When I came back in the room, she said, "Yeah, you were almost too full." WHAT?!??!!?
Anyway, once she got to doing the ultrasound in depth, it was so amazing. There were feet, arms, and bones that we could easily see. She was able to zoom in on the baby's face, and we could see his nose and lips, plain as day. Then she zoomed out, went to another area, and stopped. HELLOOOO--there was the boy part. He was just hanging out, waiting for us to discover that he is a he. The technician said she is 99.9% sure we'll have a boy. So it's pretty much official!!!
If we're able to scan the ultrasound pictures without damaging them, we'll get them posted on here soon. I'm officially halfway through my pregnancy now at 20 weeks. The ultrasound technician says I'm due March 3, 2009. Works for us!
This pregnancy has really been a blessing so far. Jon reminded me the other day that I should be thankful we waited so long, because we got pregnant right when we planned, I'm due when we wanted to have a baby, and we got what we wanted--a boy!--even though we would have been fine with either. As long as it was healthy--and even if it wasn't, we'd still be happy.
But I'm carrying my son--WOW. I'm so amazed at the miracle of pregnancy!!!
